Meet Our Founder

Sammy Odhiambo Mwangi

(Gomez)

Founder & Executive Director, The Coffee Ministry

Sammy Odhiambo Mwangi, widely known as Gomez, is the Founder and Executive Director of The Coffee Ministry, a community based organization dedicated to transforming lives in Kibera through education, discipleship, child sponsorship, and holistic community development.

Having experienced firsthand the pain of missing nine years of formal education due to financial hardship and family struggles, Gomez understands the barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential. His own journey of perseverance, faith, and restoration has shaped a lifelong commitment to ensuring that no child is denied the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive because of poverty.

For Gomez, children's ministry is more than a program it is a calling. He believes that every child is created in the image of God, filled with unique gifts, purpose, and untapped potential. By investing in children today, communities are strengthened, cycles of poverty are broken, and future leaders are raised.

Under his leadership, The Coffee Ministry has grown into a place of hope where vulnerable children receive quality education, nutritious meals, mentorship, spiritual guidance, and the support of a caring community. The organization also empowers families through outreach programs, women's initiatives, youth mentorship, and talent development, reflecting a holistic approach to community transformation.

Gomez is passionate about building partnerships with individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations that share the vision of seeing every child loved, protected, educated, and equipped to become a positive influence in society.

His guiding belief comes from the words of Jesus:

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

— Matthew 19:14

Through faith, compassion, and practical action, Gomez continues to lead The Coffee Ministry with the conviction that changing the life of one child has the power to change a family, a community, and generations to come.
